Catalina's dress was ordered online, second hand. A beautiful dress, but just a smidgen under her size, and the fabric flower sat too low for her height. She and I decided to raise the flower to near hip height, creating a deeper set of folds across her tummy. Then, we decided to lace the side of the dress instead of altering the size. I installed boning along both sides of the zipper and hand sewed the antique silver clasps to use for lacing. The clasps and lacing seemed to give "reason" to all of the satin folds, which prior, seemed to be too much going on for the bride's liking. Scattered in the folds of the dress are secret charms whose meaning are known to only the bride and groom. After the ceremony, the train of the dress was lifted and held in place by an Octopus charm and hook, creating a bustle and keeping the train out of the way for dancing.
